Somewhere With Elle is a travel media brand founded and operated by Elle, based in Virginia, USA. We publish travel content, a digital newsletter, physical snail mail letters, and the Pocket Paradise browser game — all accessible via somewherewithelle.com.

What We Collect

From newsletter subscribers: name, email, year of birth, phone (optional for digital, required for snail mail)
From snail mail subscribers: delivery address, full name
From under-18 users: parent or guardian email address
From Pocket Paradise players: name (can be a nickname), age group, email address
From contact form: name, email, message

What We Do NOT Collect

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics. We do not sell your data. We do not share your information with advertisers.

How Long We Keep It

Active subscribers: for the duration of your subscription plus 12 months
Email list (opted-in): until you unsubscribe or request deletion
Contact messages: up to 24 months, then deleted
Game data: saved locally in your browser only — we cannot access it

Stan Store — for subscription payments and checkout
Netlify — our website host and form processor
Email service provider (to be confirmed) — for sending newsletters and campaigns
No one else. We do not sell data.

Email Collection & Marketing Consent

When you play Pocket Paradise or sign up for our newsletter, you have the option to consent to receiving emails from Somewhere With Elle.

If you tick "I accept emails," we will collect your email address and send you both game updates (technical information about Pocket Paradise) and marketing campaigns (travel tips, newsletters, destination guides, and content from Somewhere With Elle). You can cancel at any time by emailing connect@somewherewithelle.com with the subject line "Unsubscribe."

For Minor Players (Under 18)

If you are 17 or below, we require a parent or guardian's email address. We do not send marketing emails to minors without verified parental consent. A parent or guardian must approve email sign-ups for anyone under 18.

Legal Basis

We only send marketing emails to people who have explicitly opted in. Under UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and US CAN-SPAM law, your consent is our legal basis for sending these emails. You retain the right to withdraw consent at any time.

Pocket Paradise — Terms of Service

What is Pocket Paradise?

Pocket Paradise is a free browser game where you build and decorate your own dream world. It's a safe, creative experience designed for all ages.

How the Game Works

Your game progress is saved to your browser's local storage — your device, not our servers
We cannot access, see, or modify your game progress
If you clear your browser data, your game will reset
The game is free to play with no in-app purchases, ads, or paywalls

Email & Consent

When you start the game, you'll be asked for your name, age group, and email. Providing an email is optional. If you tick the consent checkbox to receive emails from Somewhere With Elle (both game updates and marketing), we will collect your email address and add you to our list. If you don't tick the box, you can still play the game — we just won't email you.

Data for Minor Players

If you select "17 or below," the game will ask for a parent or guardian's email address instead of yours. This is a legal requirement. We use this information to keep your parents informed and to ensure proper consent for anyone under 18.

Your Responsibilities

You agree not to use automated tools, bots, or scrapers on the game
You agree not to attempt to reverse-engineer, modify, or copy the game code
You agree to be respectful in any feedback or contact you send us
You agree that we are not liable for loss of game progress due to browser clearing, device changes, or technical issues beyond our control

We will keep your email safe and private
We will not share your data with advertisers or third parties
If you ask us to delete your email from our list, we will do so promptly
We will not make sudden or unannounced changes to how the game collects data

Cancellation & Unsubscribe

Want to stop receiving emails? Email connect@somewherewithelle.com and let us know. We'll remove you within 48 hours. No questions asked.

Changes to the Game

We may update, modify, or discontinue Pocket Paradise at any time. We'll do our best to give notice before major changes, but we cannot guarantee service availability at all times.

Limitation of Liability

Pocket Paradise is provided as-is. We are not liable for loss of game progress, interruptions, technical errors, or any indirect damages. Your use of the game is at your own discretion.
